Most brands have shoes for each type of feet. But there are varying degrees of overpronation or supination. If you are either but aren’t sure to what degree, the best thing to do is go to the sports shoes store and have them test your feet.
If this isn’t your first time to buy running shoes, it might be a good idea to take your old shoes along with you to give a better idea of how they wore and to compare with the kind you plan to buy. And have your feet measured even if you think you’re sure of your shoe size because this can change as you age. Don’t forget your orthotics if you use them. Of course, the only way to really know if the shoes are for you is to try them on for fit and comfort. Make sure there is about a half inch between your toes and the tip of the shoe. Walk around in them for a few minutes to get the feel.
But don’t pounce on the first pair the store recommends. Chances are it will be the high end brand that could cost you more than you expected. Ask if they have cheaper brands with the same features.
